What is Cal-SOAP?

Cal-SOAP stands for the California Student Opportunity and Access Program. It is a college access and readiness program meant to increase the college-going rate of our service area. All services are FREE to our partners and participants.

Who does Cal-SOAP serve?

Cal-SOAP serves ANY 7th to 12th grade students in the area with intensive services directed towards 1st-generation, college-bound, low-income students.

Where is Santa Barbara Cal-SOAP’s service area?

Santa Barbara Cal-SOAP services the cities of Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria.

Where are Cal-SOAP services provided?

Cal-SOAP services are provided at over 20 sites in our service area. More information on sites here.

How does Cal-SOAP hire tutors?

Cal-SOAP hires current, qualifying college students to work as tutors. Click here for more info.

How is Cal-SOAP funded?

Cal-SOAP is funded through the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) as part of their outreach services.

Are Cal-SOAP services year-round?

Yes! More services are generally offered during the academic school year than in the summer.
