What is CALSOAP?

CALSOAP stands for the California Student Opportunity and Access Program. It is a college access and readiness program meant to increase the college-going rate of our service area. ALL services are FREE to our partners and participants.

Who does CALSOAP serve?

CALSOAP serves ANY student in the Santa Barbara area but focuses on 7th-12th grade students with intensive services directed towards 1st-generation, college-bound, low-income students.

Where is Santa Barbara CALSOAP’s service area?

Santa Barbara CALSOAP services the cities of Santa Barbara, Goleta and Carpinteria.

Where are CALSOAP services provided?

CALSOAP services are provided at over 20 sites in our service area. More information on sites here.

How does CALSOAP hire college success coaches?

CALSOAP hires current, qualifying college students to work as college success coaches. Click here for more info.

How is CALSOAP funded?

CALSOAP is fiscally managed by CSU Channel Islands and funded through the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) as part of the State Government outreach services.

Are CALSOAP services year-round?

Yes! More services are generally offered during the academic school year than in the summer. We also offer Online Services year-round.
